Spring Has Sprung!
|
" Daffy-down-dilly. Has come to town. With a yellow petticoat. And a pretty green gown."
Every Spring since the beginning of my memory when I see the first daffodils of Spring that short poem comes to my mind. It has become a tradition in my family and just this morning I texted it (communication these days) to my four daughters. It brings us all fond memories and signals the hope of new life, color and the beauty of a new season.
We have all weathered the storm from the past 12 months of a new way of life, and we are all hopeful that this Spring continues to move in a positive direction! Our school community has certainly proven their resilience, and we are gaining back lost time and doing our best to support one another through what is now a year-long Pandemic. We are proud of all that the students have accomplished and a hopeful for a productive Spring!
Here are some great suggestions for parents to try at home if you are searching for support for your children if they are showing frustration and duress with learning. Having a positive and healthy growth mindset can make all the difference in the world!

Just for Parents!
Dear Parents,
Happy New Year! The opening of the 2020-2021 school year is beginning to enter phase 3 in a gradual process. Our reopening plan, which can be found on the Little Silver Website, has provided you with an overview of how we have prepared for a safe and healthy return to school. No one could have predicted that we would still be faced with altering the structure of school due to the COVID19 pandemic, but we continue to make the health and safety of the students our priority as we move forward with a continuity of learning. The following information will hopefully provide you with a stream of support as you partner with us to educate the students in the Little Silver School District. Regardless of whether your student is in the building or learning remotely from home- school is in session!

Parent training!
Many parents have requested training on technology that our students are using. Ms. Whittle and I created a virtual training room with a plethora of tutorials for parents to support you when your students are home. Visit our virtual Parent Training Academy and learn more about Google Apps and our district subscriptions to help students learn! Click on the images below to access the virtual training room!
Welcome to Point Road Elementary: Kindergarten Parents
Ms. Whittle has prepared short video clips to assist parents as they support their new Kindergarten students into Point Road Elementary. We know this is a challenging time for parents of kindergarten aged students during typical years, but this year is perhaps more stressful. These short clips and examples will be a great help to you and your child(ren) as they become familiar with remote learning strategies and the Point Road systems. Workshop to support you as you support your children at home!
Join expert Teachers College Reading and Writing Project staff at our upcoming workshop day for parents and caregivers of students in grades K-8. These days are typically 2-3 hours long, composed of a series of 15-minute small-group presentations. Parents and caregivers can choose the workshops that match their needs and are free to come for one workshop or many. The schedule of workshops will be made available prior to the event.
